Call to Order 12:05

Recruitment Fund - Donations and Fundraisings are needed to begin building a fund to pay a medical provider brought into the Deltana area. DCSP now has the account set-up with a code for each Workgroup, and is ready for any donations or grants or fundraisings to be deposited.

Market Feasibility Analysis/Business Plan - The group agrees that a market study needs to be done. It was discussed whether it should be collaboratively done along with senior housing or separate from. It was agreed that a ½ day Strategy Planning Meeting is needed to discuss collaborative efforts among the Medical Health Workgroup, Senior’s Workgroup, Banner Health, and a possible dental provider to put together a business plan. John will be speaking with Dentist Paul Anderson about his involvement. A tentative meeting is scheduled for January 7, to have him meet with the workgroup. John will also contact a realtor in Fairbanks for their input about how they do a market analysis and strategy planning for land development (for a health care campus setting for example)

New Business - Marilyn will continue to look for any grants available to help facilitate medical health needs in the Deltana area. She, also, will be talking with University of Alaska Anchorage’s nursing program to recruit registered nurses and nurse practitioners to our area.

Welcome - Barb Flynn greeted everyone

Call to Order 6:05pm

Introductions - James Snyder, Deb Snyder’s husband, and Robert Rucker II

Acceptance of Agenda - Agenda was accepted

Acceptance of old minutes - Minutes from October 5 and October 22 Meetings were accepted.

Financial Report - Deb Snyder gave a full report on the finances and proposed a spreadsheet with a code system for each workgroup’s and partnership fundraising and donation(s) accounting. Wells Fargo signature card was passed around to the directors for signing.

Grant Updates - Deb Hayes continues to research any and all possible grants available.

Additions to the Agenda - Deb Hayes asked for time to speak to the roles and responsibilities of the board and its directors.

New Business - February 6, 2010 Luau Fundraiser is being planned.

Robert Rucker presented PSA possibilities the Fairbanks Channel 11 TV station and an interview.

Overview of Board and its Directors roles and responsibilities - Deb Hayes gave an overview to everyone present of the board’s responsibility to the Partnership, the community, and to each other. She reminded everyone that we in a 10 year stage of planning that requires processing and deliberative conversations for making decisions that will impact children, families, and our community. She admonished to always remember our goals and vision and to not make any decisions without being fully informed. Deb is planning a training for the board at a later date.

Market Analysis Proposal – Robert Rucker - Robert presented two proposals from two companies: The Danter Company and Haddock & Associates for the Board to consider and review. In the meantime, he and Deb Hayes will continue to research other companies and options for market analysis to assist in the senior housing project. Deb Hayes is also compiling a list of questions to ask possible companies and will be requesting referrals of their clients. Examples of their work on other analysis completed and their experience history will also be requested.

Dinner/Dance - It was agreed that the Dinner/Dance to be held at the Moose Family Center, December 12, will have the theme of Blow Away the Blues Winter Bash & Fundraiser. The event is raise awareness and to assist in senior needs in the Deltana area. There will be live music by the Big Delta Blues. Tickets will be $25 per person

Recruitment Funding Proposal - Rachelle Hill gave a brief overview of the proposal and asked the Board to consider. A decision will voted on at a later date. In the meantime, Rachelle and Deb Hayes will research more options for raising money for recruitment. Marilyn Krueger will also assist where and when needed.

Special scheduled meetings - Joe Brokus will speak with the Truloves at the next Youth Meeting about a meeting to discuss the logistical possibilities about the usage of space in their warehouse for youth activities. And to discuss possible training topic.

Tabled items for discussion at a later date - Recreation and transportation summits and half-day training in January. Board will wait for Ted Sponsel’s return and input.

Deltana Agency Database - Deb Snyder and Deb Hayes will look into the AK Statewide 211 Website about the possible listing of the agencies available to the public.

Half day training; topics to continue including coalition capacity building, board of director roles and responsibilities, transportation summit. This was tabled until Ted returns to America from his European adventure.

9. NEW BUSINESS:

Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention workshop training coming to Deltana, sponsored by DBH, presented by Dr. James Gallanos with the State Department of Behavioral health, sponsored by DCSP.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Training

Facilitated by Deborah Hayes, M. Ed. And Ruth Post, M.S.W.
· Learn about FASD including facts and effects on the body and brain
· Understand the meaning of primary and Secondary Disabilities
· Understand the purpose and value of a diagnosis
· Discuss Alaska’s Resources

This workshop was developed by the University of Alaska, Anchorage with a grant from the State of Alaska Department of Behavioral Health. Instructors include Deborah A. Hayes, M. Ed, who is a certified to train this class. Ms. Hayes has a master’s degree in counseling and years of experience working with children and families impacted by FASD. She is currently the program director of Alaska’s foster and adoptive parent training program and the DCSP project. Ruth Post, M. S. W. also has years of experience as an adoptive parent and working with children and families will co-facilitate the workshop. Along with her master’s degree in social work, Ms. Post brings insight, ideas and promise to families and professionals impacted by this disability.
